The bloody “Red Wedding” from Game of Thrones was inspired by two historical Scottish events: The Black Dinner, where a young Earl was promised safety by the King, but was murdered at a great feast, and the the Glencoe Massacre, in which one clan invited another clan to stay with them throughout the night only murdered them in their sleep.
