Harambe vs. Capcom fighting game

Because it won’t be over until the Harambe meme has infiltrated every facet of our lives, there is now a fan-made Harambe vs Capcom fighting game available to play on PC.

The game actually has some semblance of a plot. A “good Samaritan” informs Harambe that a shadow agency wants him dead because they know about his psychic powers. He is told to seek out Ryu who will test his might and then lead him to an airport so that he can return to his home country of Africa. Harambe then uses his aforementioned psychic powers to make the media believe he is dead so that he can resolve the situation.

The game has a roster of 21 playable characters who come from various Street Fighter games. Most of the characters come from Street Fighter III but a few are from Street Fighter Alpha. Harambe himself is comprised of animations from several characters, though it is hard to nail down which ones specifically.

Harambe vs Capcom was created by a self-described underground culture group called Otaku Gang. This team has previously worked on original music and creating other satire video games.

Unlike the gorilla that spawned it, the Harambe meme just won’t die. I fully expect other modders to start placing the world’s most famous ape into other video games. Will he also have Gorilla Grodd-esque psychic powers in other games? I say this should now become part of the Harambe legend, because, why not?
