Spaceballs 2? Here’s what you need to know!

As much as we would like to say “A sequel has been confirmed!” at this time all we can say is that there have been rumors from some pretty well known sources. The 1987 Star Wars satire took the beloved just finished Star Wars original trilogy, added some pop-culture references, a little lampooning and hilarity ensued. With the great success of this parody movie, there has always been small rumors circling of the idea of a sequel…. but recently Mel Brooks (Director of Spaceballs) has commented that with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, now would be the most opportunistic time to release their sequel.

With a recent interview on the Take a Knee podcast by Adam Corolla, Mel Brooks confirmed that a Spaceballs sequel may eventually happen due to the extreme hype of the recent Star Wars movie. He later went on to explain that he is extremely excited and if it would happen he would like to bring back all of the original cast (Excluding John Candy and Joan Rivers who have since passed away).

As a joke, the film hinted that their sequel would be names “Spaceballs: The Search for more Money“. Was this a promise of a sequel or was this a message hinting towards the cash grab sequel to a successful movie? At this time there has been no further words on a filming date. Posters have been recently seen in a New York subway, which had been quickly reported upon. There has been no claim that the posters are real and they could have been printed out by anyone… but we all remain optimistic! As we all wait in anticipation to remove the “rumors” of the sequel, at least we can look forward to Star Wars: Rogue One when it releases on December 16 this year.
