I may not be the only one, but the first thing that comes to mind when I think of NASA is a spaceship shooting towards the moon.
Little did I know that while designing their high tech spaceships they would come up with everyday designs for the average joe like you and I.

Here are 3 of the many designs that NASA has created that you may see on any given day:
Â
1. Memory Foam – Yes, the cushy goodness of memory foam was ceated by none other than the scientific geniuses of NASA. Other known as “Temper Foam”, its main developmental purpose was to improve crash protection for airline passengers. Since it’s design it has now been employed by NASCAR, mattresses, military, safety equipmnt and much much more. You can now sleep easy knowing this fun fact. (Spinoff 1976, 1977, 1979, 1988, 1995, 2002, 2005)
2. Portable Cordless Vacuum – The next time you drunkenly stumble home from a long night of drinking, spill the munchies and grab the cordless vacuum to clean the meess… you have NASA to thank. Little did you know, the “Dustbuster” was designed and created by NASA. Black & Decker was given the task of designing a portable, self-contained drill capable of exracting core samples from blow the lunar surface. Little did they know that they would stumbe upon the cleaning marvel of the 80’s the “Dustbuster”. (Spinoff 1981)

3. Solar Energy – While shooting for the moon it seems that NASA didn’t want the sun feeling left out. You can now regularly find homes being outfitted with modern, high-performance, low cost,
single crystal silicon solar powe cells to allow them reduce their traditional energy cost as well as contribute to pollution reduction. NASA did not complete this task alone though – they had sponsored a 28Â member coalition of companies, government groups,
