Ottawa in Colour

Over the last few months there has been a new trend that I have been noticing around book stores across the world. Oddly enough, this new trend usually doesn’t even involve reading… so what could it be?

I’ll give you a hint: As today is the first day back to school for some University students, think back to the days of Kindergarten. What was your favourite thing to do in Kindergarten?.. Nap time? well yeah that’s a pretty good answer, but I was thinking more of colouring!

Colouring books for adults to be specific, have been appearing all throughout all the big chain book stores and have gained a massive amount of popularity over the last few months. There is plenty of different art to choose from. Foliage, abstract patterns, large designs with small details, Dr.Who, Harry Potter and… Ottawa? You read it right, Ottawa has it’s own colouring book!

Jason Cobill found the nation’s capital has been underrepresented in the available city-themed colouring books, and decided to fix this problem by creating Ottawa in Colour.

The final book has 32 pages drawn by 22 artists. With contributors from all over the city, many different parts of Ottawa have been represented — artists drew whatever they loved about Ottawa. The only iconic scene you won’t find is Parliament Hill, which was specifically off-limits to avoid an entire book of Parliament Hill itself.

So where can you find yourself a copy of this colouring book? You can find it in multiple locations throughout Ottawa, or you can order it through their website (Free shipping until September 15, 2016)

If you have ever thought Ottawa needed a bit more colour, now is your chance to spice things up!
