#5 – Homefront: The Revolution
While not highly reviewed, the original Homefront game did gather a small cult following of fans and Homefront: The Revolution has returned to its roots. While the game has struggled to find its identity as it has changed publishers multiple times, it had its fair share of changes but from what we have seen from trailers and teasers, we are excited for this game to be released! The current developers are quite ambitious; trying to develop an open world game taking place in Philadelphia where you play the role of a guerrilla fighter part of the “Revolution” trying to take your city back. Some things players can look forward to include weapon customization, base building, tactical co-op gameplay, stealth, useable vehicles and so much more. While there has not been a whole lot of game footage released to the public, we are excited for this ambitious game and can’t wait to stick it to the man!
#4 – Battleborn
Another hero based first person shooter game; it seems that every developer has their own take on this style of game, but we feel that Battleborn sticks out from the rest. First of all, the game was developed by Gearbox, the developers of the Borderlands series. That alone is worth noting as they are known for their cool characters, standout environments, epic storylines, landscape and just the general vibe you get from their style. Battleborn is a team based competitive multiplayer game with 5 vs 5 matches. For those who tend to avoid the fast paced competitive multiplayer games, Battleborn stands out from the crowd; coming with a full single player story mode where you can enjoy the signature Gearbox style gameplay without the competitive atmosphere. I myself am a huge fan of the Borderlands series, especially due to their comic book art style; I will be picking up this game and leaving reality for a long long time.
#3 – Total War: Warhammer
The Warhammer series is returning to its roots with this big real time strategy game that has fans uncontrollably excited. The game includes both turn-based and real-time battles where you command your units to fight battles as well as amassing an empire to reign supreme! There are four different races in Total War: Warhammer: The Empire, Dwarves, Vampire Counts and the Greenskins. Like many real time strategy games, each faction comes with its unique characters, stories, lore, abilities, unit attacks and play styles. What really caught our attention is the ability to summon dragons or giants to help aid you in a battle. This fantasy world combined with the Total War series has me foaming at the mouth and I can’t wait to immerse myself into this gaming world.
#2 – Doom
#1 – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Easily our most anticipated game of May and most likely the entire year, is Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Supposedly the last game of Nathan Drake, this will surely be one hell of a game! If the previous Uncharted games were not enough already, they have introduced a more open world exploration style, driving sequences, swinging from ropes and so much more. If the gameplay itself doesn’t grip you, the storyline will be sure to grab your attention as you will be up until 3am trying to find out what happens next! The Uncharted series has an action movie style that will have you on your toes throughout your entire playthrough. I have been waiting a long time for this game to come out and after waiting through 3 delays it is almost here. I already have it pre ordered and a timer set on my phone.
