All the myths have been busted

If you’ve been living under a rock, you may not have heard that one of the most beloved shows on the Discovery channel has come to an end.

Mythbusters has completed it’s final season.

The show comes to a close after 14 seasons and 2950 experiments.

You may remember a couple years ago Discovery promised the show wasn’t going anywhere after some unpopular changes were made. At the beginning of last year however, the decision was made to end the show.

Both Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman seem to have a good sense of closure about the show’s ending, acknowledging that the amount of notice they had about it sometimes doesn’t happen for a show. “It was my greatest fear that Mythbusters would just stop and we wouldn’t be able to do proper final episodes,” Savage told EW. “So whether it’s myths about human behaviour or car stories or explosion stories, we tried to find the most awesome example of each category and build on our past history.”

So what does the future hold for these two? Savage says he want to continue both in front of and behind the camera, as well as his website. Hyneman on the other hand, plans to work on a Office and Navel Research project, as well as developing some handy firefighting vehicles in hopes of aiding the efforts of the forest fires of the Western United States. When asked if they’d ever work together on screen again, Hyneman was doubtful, while Savage thought their paths may cross at some point.

Their legacy will no doubt live on, as they have inspired thousands to make similar videos and share them on the internet. With outcomes of various levels of success.

Discovery promises that the last episode will include loads of explosions, ensuring the show goes out with a bang. (You were waiting for the joke, weren’t you?)
