Do you like The Witcher or Skyrim? This game is for you!

Kingdom Come: deliverance, an upcoming RPG by Warhorse Studios’ takes the best of both Skyrim and The Witcher and puts it together in one well crafted game. Taking place during real historical events of 1403 Bohemia, players explore a massive 16 square-kilometers of countryside as Henry, the son of a blacksmith tasked with rescuing his king who has been kidnapped.

If you ever wanted to know what it was like to live back in the 15th century Bohemia, Kingdom Come: deliverance can help you. While being created, the team hired a historian, art expert and a teacher of Historical Martial Arts to help recreate the medieval life and combat as accurately as possible. Be warned though, we do not recommend you use this for a study guide for your history exams.

Following the examples of the hugely successful titles of The Witcher and Skyrim, the world of Deliverance is HUGE! Large forests, small quaint villages, gigantic castles and many unpaved paths to explore. While exploring you can only expect the most life like styles as they have even bought a satellite topographic map of the area so they could get every last little detail, even to the museums and universities will math the timely architecture.

If history isn’t your forte, how about sieging opposing castles? One of their features includes the chance to participate in full castle sieges throughout the story. There are many different tactics you can take while attacking an opposing castle. If you feel like rushing in swords a swinging, taking a ladder over the wall… go right ahead! But if your not feeling up to it and want to put your feet up while the NPCs (non playable characters) do all the fighting well that’s just fine and dandy.  Just be cautious, there are concequences for your actions… or lack of.

Your reputation plays a large role in this game. Depending on how people form an opinion on you will alter the amount of information they may give you, haggle prices or help you with your journey. If you go in guns a blazing, you can expect the villagers to be waiting for you with pitchforks and torches!

Your character, Henry is not a born fighter, tactician, wizard or for that matter can’t even read. This may sound bad, but this offers players a completely blank slate. Players have the chance to work on their skills according to how they wish to play the game. This give the game the ability to be replayed multiple times as you can complete the game an entirely new way each time. Be prepared for reality as full plate armour will not work if you wish to sneak around, not only will the noise alert NPCs but the reflection of the sun will also catch their eye!

You can’t get away with mindless hacking and slashing here. Instead, you’ll have to evaluate the type of weapon you’re wielding against the type of armor your enemy is wearing, since the game calculates attack and defense success based on the real-world utility of equipment. You’ll also have to learn how to properly parry and block, pace yourself in a fight (you have limited stamina) and exploit an enemy’s weakness to get the upper hand. (Hint: enemies without a helmet will definitely go down faster if you attack their head.) Juggling all of these factors may sound a bit overwhelming, but Warhorse hopes that it translates into a more immersive experience for players.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is set to be released sometime in 2016. I am excited to get my hand on this title and immerse myself back into another land just like I did for both Skyrim and The Witcher. Be sure to check out this 30 min beta gameplay video if you are interested.
